Welcome to ALBANIA

Information about ALBANIA Albania is a small Adriatic country which manages to blend all that you would expect of the Mediterranean climate with the relics of the former Communist regime. Olive groves and vineyards grow in the dark shadow of obelisks. Decrepit, Chinese-built factories stand next to breathtaking mosques; ornately decorated Orthodox churches face 'Soviet Brutal' palaces of culture while all around there’s a thriving café culture. The land itself wastes no time in transforming itself quickly from the sandy coast of the Adriatic to spectacular mountains which rise to over 2700 metres. Slowly but surely the country is recovering from centuries of brutal occupation and disastrous social experimenting. It has made its first tentative steps towards democratic reform and integration with its neighbours. Those who have visited the country have only good things to say, especially how welcome and safe they felt. However, no matter how difficult this transition may be, the spectacular forested mountains, the warm Mediterranean sun, and the heart-rending blue waters of the Adriatic will all endure the country's ups and downs.
